What changed in September 2025

In September 2025, Roblox introduced a Fast Flag Allowlist. The change limits modifiable Fast Flags to roughly 18 entries — down from hundreds. These remaining flags are mostly UI and experience settings, not rendering or performance controls.

Bloxstrap responded to this by removing its Fast Flag editor entirely in version 2.8.0. The editor was one of Bloxstrap's most-used features. It is gone because there is nothing meaningful left to edit. Attempting to apply old flag packs through Bloxstrap or any other method either has no effect or causes Roblox to reject the launch.

The Roblox client now validates flags against a server-side allowlist on startup. Flags not on that list are silently ignored or trigger a client reset. No third-party tool can bypass this at the application level — the check happens before your game session begins.

What flags were actually doing

Most flag packs gave 5 to 10 percent improvement at best. A few flags genuinely helped:

  • FFlagDebugGraphicsPreferVulkan switched the renderer to Vulkan on supported hardware, which helped some AMD GPU setups modestly.
  • DFIntTaskSchedulerTargetFps removed the frame cap, which is now available directly in Roblox settings under Frame Rate Cap.
  • A handful of rendering quality flags reduced shadow detail and reflection quality slightly beyond what the in-game slider exposed.

Most of the flags passed around in Discord servers were placebo. They had no measurable effect on FPS or latency. Some were debug flags that changed internal logging behavior. Others were already overridden by the Roblox server configuration. The 30 to 40 percent FPS gains people reported were almost always from the power plan change or the dedicated GPU fix that happened to be applied at the same time.

What still works

These are Windows-level changes. They do not touch Roblox files. They cannot be patched out by Roblox. They work whether you use Bloxstrap, the official launcher, or anything else.

Windows power plan (15 to 25 percent gain on most laptops). Windows ships with the Balanced plan active. This plan reduces CPU and GPU clock speeds during brief pauses in activity. Roblox has constant brief pauses between render frames. The result is that your hardware never reaches full speed. Switch to High Performance: press Win+R, type powercfg.cpl, press Enter, select High Performance.

Dedicated GPU setting (can double FPS on laptops). Most laptops with a dedicated GPU default to integrated graphics for Roblox. The dedicated GPU exists on the same machine and is being ignored. This is not a bug — Windows routes applications to integrated graphics by default to save battery. You need to override it. Press Win+I, go to System, Display, Graphics. Click Add an app, add Roblox, click Options, select High performance. Close and relaunch Roblox.

Disable fullscreen optimizations. Microsoft's fullscreen optimizations add a frame of input lag. They were designed for applications that need to overlay the game window, not for games themselves. Disabling them gives Roblox exclusive display output. Right-click RobloxPlayerBeta.exe in your Roblox Versions folder, Properties, Compatibility, check "Disable fullscreen optimizations".

Disable Xbox Game Bar. Game Bar records your screen in the background and uses your GPU's video encoder. On integrated graphics, the encoder and renderer share the same hardware. Press Win+I, Gaming, Xbox Game Bar, turn it off. Then Gaming, Captures, turn off background recording.

In-game graphics settings. Press Esc in Roblox, go to Settings, set Graphics Mode to Manual, and set the quality level to match your hardware. Also set Frame Rate Cap in the Roblox settings to your monitor's refresh rate — this replaced the flag approach and it actually works.

The flags that still work

The remaining ~18 modifiable flags are documented on the Bloxstrap wiki. They include things like disabling the Roblox desktop app overlay, changing the in-game menu style, and adjusting a few audio behaviors. None of them significantly affect FPS. If you want to use them, the Bloxstrap wiki is the most accurate source — the flag list in most Discord servers is months out of date.
